Happy Birthday Abigail Breslin!

Today Abigail Breslin, Valentine, celebrates her 17th birthday! The Huffington Post has put together a slide show of Abigail as she grew up under the spotlight. I have to say she has stood her ground when it came to her own style and we love that!

Recently CNN Entertainment got the chance to talk to Abigail Breslin who portrays Ender’s older sister Valentine. We found out last year that the movie was going to take a different direction than the novel itself. However, many of the cast members have stated in some interviews that the movie, though different from the book, is in no way jeopardized from this decision.

“It does stay true to the book, which I’m excited about,” Abigail tells CNN Ent.

“The cast is so talented and I play Valentine,” she went on. “I love the character in the book as well, so it stays pretty true to the character in the movie.”

So it seems Abigail is also soothing our anxiety on the movie. Valentine is one character staying grounded to the book (which we already knew because, come on, Abigail is just amazing!). However, this doesn’t mean we need to worry about other characters. If the author approves of the movie, then we, as fans, should to.

Ender’s Game premieres November 1st.

The Clash of the Epic Characters: Valentine Wiggin vs. Nico di Angelo

The second lineup of contenders are up and this time our very own Valentine Wiggin is up against Percy Jackson’s Nico di Angelo. It seems like di Angelo has a great lead on Val so lets get her up in the stakes. Vote for her here.

This second battle is open until 8/29 so lets see if we can make Val a victor. Spread the word of the clashes and don’t forget to vote for the other three battles ongoing this week as well.

UPDATE: The second round of polls have closed and the results are in. Sadly Valentine did not win but the next set of battles are up and get excited because Ender Wiggin and Petra Arkanian are included in this set.

The Clash of the Epic Characters!

TheFandom.Net is hosting a series of battles from which characters of 10 popular YA books will be going head to head. Each battle will give a summary of the character and statements from admins of those fandom’s to give support in selling the strengths and greatness of each character.

Many fandom’s have been selected to participate including our very own Ender’s Game fandom. We will be given the opportunity to battle great heroes and warriors from other books and hopefully show what great fighters our characters are. To give you a heads up six of our characters have been reaped into battle.  Ender Wiggin, Bean, Valentine Wiggin, Peter Wiggin, Petra Arkanian and Mazer Rackham.

I’ve been told that starting Monday a new poll will go up and that our very own Valentine Wiggin will be placed in one of the battles. So I’ll update you on that when it is opened.

To vote for your favorite character in the current battles go to Schedule of Clashes. This first poll ends tonight midnight ET so if you want to get a look at the first rundown head on over now.

For more info on what books and characters have been reaped into these battles check out COTEC at TheFandom.Net and watch the amazing video they have created for the clashes.

Who will be victor? Who will win? The battle is on.

UPDATE: The first round of battles have ended and victors have been announced! Go check out the winners and the new schedule of battles that are set to begin tomorrow.
