Interviews of Asa Butterfield, Hailee Steinfeld, and Harrison Ford From CinemaCon

This past week Las Vegas hosted the annual CinemaCon event and three members of the Ender’s Game cast were honorees. Asa Butterfield (Rising Star award), Hailee Steinfeld (Female of Tomorrow award), and Harrison Ford (Lifetime Achievement award) presented an unfinished sneak peek at the Ender’s Game trailer.

Showbiz Junkies posted some videos of interviews from Asa, Hailee, and Harrison Ford. Watch them here.

It’s still refreshing to see the passion and enthusiasm the actors have for the Ender’s Game book and movie.

Ender’s Game premieres Nov. 1st.

Ender’s Game Trailer at CinemaCon

Yesterday Lionsgate had their presentation for their upcoming films of the year. Among these films they highlighted the  Ender’s Game movie with a special presentation of a teaser trailer. Lionsgate Motion Picture Group co-chairman, Rob Friedman, introduced Asa Butterfield, Ender Wiggin, and Hailee Steinfeld, Petra Arkanian, both who are honorees at the event, as they gave the audience the first look at the Ender’s Game trailer.

ComingSoon posted about the trailer:

which features lots of shots of Ender’s zero-G training, battles with the Formic race both in space and within a planet’s upper atmosphere and lots of dialogue from Ford’s Hyrum Graff and Ben Kingsley’s Mazer Rackham (the latter of whom has his character’s very intricate face tattoo).

So it looks like Mazer will have a distinguishable look in the movie. Buzzfeed, too, talks about the tattoos.

Unlike other major franchise launches, the trailer did not hold back on giving fans a great deal of what they want to see: The zero gravity Battle Room; several battles with Bugger ships; the Maori facial tattoos on Mazer Rackham (Ben Kingsley), etc.

io9 has a very detailed report of the trailer. I won’t put the whole details up, you can read them all at the web link, but here is an excerpt from what they saw:

The trailer’s opening shot takes place in a purpled-sky filled with Bugger ships. The swarms of alien ships move like a hive against a smaller group of human jets. Explosions and alien weaponry crash in the atmosphere. We can only assume that this is one of Mazer Rackham’s infamous battles, which is later used as big-time propaganda against the war with the Formics (an insect like alien race).

Over the war-porn booms the voice of Colonel Hyrum Graff (Harrison Ford), “They know our strategies, they know our weaknesses, and they nearly destroyed us…. We need a new weapon.”

Following the showing of the trailer Harrison Ford took center stage to talk about the movie and this is what he had to say,

“I was attracted to it not just for the scale of it and the power of it visually, but there’s a great human story here,” he said.

Though the trailer that was shown isn’t the finished product, still it would have been amazing to be one of those first people to glimpse Ender’s world.

Also, let us not forget the three Ender’s Game cast members that were awarded that night as well.

Harrison Ford, Asa Butterfield, and Hailee Steinfeld at CinemaCon

CinemaCon

With CinemaCon taking place in Vegas right now Variety had the chance to interview the 3 cast members of Ender’s Game being honored at the event.

Harrison Ford, who is being presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award, says that Ender’s Game is “ just a whole different canvas — no replicants — and character and world view.”

Also, Asa Butterfield, who is receiving the Rising Star Award, reveals that what he was excited for turned out to be the most difficult to shoot.

“It was the best script I’d read, and I thought how much fun it would be to be in zero gravity with laser guns.” Actually, that turned out to be the hard part. “All the wire stuff is difficult. Floating up there, you need a strong core so you don’t look lie you’re in a harness. I’d go home completely sore after a day in harnesses.”

Last, Hailee Steinfeld, who is going to be presented the Female Star of Tomorrow Award, talks about her experience with working with co-stars her age.

“At that point I’d wanted to work with kids my age, and was looking forward to it,” she recalls. “The catch is that they were all boys, so it was 3½ months with a bunch of guys, which is not a bad thing.”

The cast, again, reinforce the idea that the movie is going to be amazing. Being or saying that Ender’s Game is a new slate of a sci-fi movie or putting in the effort to make scenes look real, or just showing again the companionship the cast had during filming.

Lionsgate will present on April 18th, along with the presentations of the awards.

Last night at the Dodger Stadium was a night of celebration where the team commemorated the baseball legend Jackie Robinson. With the team players wearing the famous number 42 and the recent premiere of the movie “42″, which chronicles the struggle of baseball player Jackie Robinson, they also began the night with Harrison Ford, “Brooklyn Dodgers executive Branch Rickey in the biopic” and Colonel Hyrum Graff in Ender’s Game, throwing the ceremonial first pitch.

You can see Ford shaking hands with the Los Angeles Dodger’s Star player Matt Kemp and alongside Basketball legend Magic Johnson and Robinson’s wife Rachel Robinson.

A Look Into The Ender’s Game Still

Happy post-revelation everyone! If you can see we are totally excited to have the first official still for the Ender’s Game movie. As we were glued to our monitors scanning and analyzing the stare down of Colonel Graff and Ender we came across some things in the barracks that caught our attention. For clarification, the following observations are all speculation of what I gathered from the still.

via EW

via EW

–Off the bat our eyes go to the girl to the left of the photo (behind Ford). She wears a yellow jumpsuit and two launchies away from Ender there is another yellow suit. We can infer that these kids are all launchies so the two yellow suits aren’t commanders or toon leaders, because they are only assigned to army’s. So who are these yellow suited launchies? Well, referring back to the handy dandy EG book, in chapter five, launchies have to elect a ‘chief officer’ that would be normally settled in the lower bunk by the door. That was the last bed which was left to Ender on the first day in Battle School. By placement Ender would have been the officer but they elected otherwise. Maybe that’s what these kids are and they have to be identified separately from the rest.open locker First official still

–While I’m on the topic of clothing, they’re wearing socks! In the book they don’t own a pair of socks. In the still, well, it looks like they must own a couple of pairs. And the two kids in yellow suits not only have socks but have black socks.

–One thing that Orson Scott Card introduced us to in Ender’s first time in the barracks was the flash suits. They were placed in a locker at the end of the bed. However, here we don’t see the suits but it doesn’t mean they aren’t there. The lockers are situated in between the beds and to the right you can spot what looks like an open locker. Seems roomy, so the suits might be hanging around in there.

–Another thing that stood out were the desks. As seen in the picture below, they seem to be attached to the locker but are they detachable? Alike the other desks there are stools in front of the desks. Maybe they aren’t detachable and they must sit their for the time in use.

desks First official still–That leads me to the pairing and number of launchies in the barracks. Ender stands on a number 02 while the girl across from him stands on 01. The still isn’t a 360 view of the barracks, so I’m guessing that by the look of the bunk beds and the placement of the lockers there are 12 launchies and that they are paired by bunks. So it seems Alai and Ender might be bunk mates! Also, it looks like Ender might have the bottom bunk by the door. If the yellow suits are the chief officers maybe Ender palmed his locker already and like Mother Dap said  ”Can’t recode the lockers now” so he probably kept that bed.

What do you guys think about these changes and observations? Have you guys found anything else other than what was listed? We love to hear from you guys let us know in the comments below.
