Interviews of Asa Butterfield, Hailee Steinfeld, and Harrison Ford From CinemaCon

This past week Las Vegas hosted the annual CinemaCon event and three members of the Ender’s Game cast were honorees. Asa Butterfield (Rising Star award), Hailee Steinfeld (Female of Tomorrow award), and Harrison Ford (Lifetime Achievement award) presented an unfinished sneak peek at the Ender’s Game trailer.

Showbiz Junkies posted some videos of interviews from Asa, Hailee, and Harrison Ford. Watch them here.

It’s still refreshing to see the passion and enthusiasm the actors have for the Ender’s Game book and movie.

Ender’s Game premieres Nov. 1st.

Ender’s Game Trailer at CinemaCon

Yesterday Lionsgate had their presentation for their upcoming films of the year. Among these films they highlighted the  Ender’s Game movie with a special presentation of a teaser trailer. Lionsgate Motion Picture Group co-chairman, Rob Friedman, introduced Asa Butterfield, Ender Wiggin, and Hailee Steinfeld, Petra Arkanian, both who are honorees at the event, as they gave the audience the first look at the Ender’s Game trailer.

ComingSoon posted about the trailer:

which features lots of shots of Ender’s zero-G training, battles with the Formic race both in space and within a planet’s upper atmosphere and lots of dialogue from Ford’s Hyrum Graff and Ben Kingsley’s Mazer Rackham (the latter of whom has his character’s very intricate face tattoo).

So it looks like Mazer will have a distinguishable look in the movie. Buzzfeed, too, talks about the tattoos.

Unlike other major franchise launches, the trailer did not hold back on giving fans a great deal of what they want to see: The zero gravity Battle Room; several battles with Bugger ships; the Maori facial tattoos on Mazer Rackham (Ben Kingsley), etc.

io9 has a very detailed report of the trailer. I won’t put the whole details up, you can read them all at the web link, but here is an excerpt from what they saw:

The trailer’s opening shot takes place in a purpled-sky filled with Bugger ships. The swarms of alien ships move like a hive against a smaller group of human jets. Explosions and alien weaponry crash in the atmosphere. We can only assume that this is one of Mazer Rackham’s infamous battles, which is later used as big-time propaganda against the war with the Formics (an insect like alien race).

Over the war-porn booms the voice of Colonel Hyrum Graff (Harrison Ford), “They know our strategies, they know our weaknesses, and they nearly destroyed us…. We need a new weapon.”

Following the showing of the trailer Harrison Ford took center stage to talk about the movie and this is what he had to say,

“I was attracted to it not just for the scale of it and the power of it visually, but there’s a great human story here,” he said.

Though the trailer that was shown isn’t the finished product, still it would have been amazing to be one of those first people to glimpse Ender’s world.

Also, let us not forget the three Ender’s Game cast members that were awarded that night as well.

Asa Butterfield for the Rising Star Award.

Harrison Ford, Asa Butterfield, and Hailee Steinfeld at CinemaCon

CinemaCon

With CinemaCon taking place in Vegas right now Variety had the chance to interview the 3 cast members of Ender’s Game being honored at the event.

Harrison Ford, who is being presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award, says that Ender’s Game is “ just a whole different canvas — no replicants — and character and world view.”

Also, Asa Butterfield, who is receiving the Rising Star Award, reveals that what he was excited for turned out to be the most difficult to shoot.

“It was the best script I’d read, and I thought how much fun it would be to be in zero gravity with laser guns.” Actually, that turned out to be the hard part. “All the wire stuff is difficult. Floating up there, you need a strong core so you don’t look lie you’re in a harness. I’d go home completely sore after a day in harnesses.”

Last, Hailee Steinfeld, who is going to be presented the Female Star of Tomorrow Award, talks about her experience with working with co-stars her age.

“At that point I’d wanted to work with kids my age, and was looking forward to it,” she recalls. “The catch is that they were all boys, so it was 3½ months with a bunch of guys, which is not a bad thing.”

The cast, again, reinforce the idea that the movie is going to be amazing. Being or saying that Ender’s Game is a new slate of a sci-fi movie or putting in the effort to make scenes look real, or just showing again the companionship the cast had during filming.

Lionsgate will present on April 18th, along with the presentations of the awards.

What do you feel about the recent interviews? Let us know in the comments.

Hailee Steinfeld in Romeo and Juliet

I wasn’t very happy in high school when I had to read Shakespeare’s play. (I think a lot of people can relate to that) However, now a creative writing major I’ve learned to appreciate the value of such a great work of art and its capability of multiple media adaptions.

Plus, who doesn’t prefer watching the movie over reading the book in class? Well here’s an alternative to add to the high school classes next year.

The official trailer for the newest adaption of Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet features Hailee Steinfeld as Juliet and Douglas Booth as Romeo.

Hailee Steinfeld to Receive Female Star of Tomorrow Award at CinemaCon

normal_004It looks like along with Harrison Ford (Colonel Hyrum Graff), who’s receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award, and Asa Butterfield (Ender Wiggin), the Rising Star of 2013 award, Hailee Steinfeld (Petra Arkanian) will be receiving the Female Star of Tomorrow award at this years CinemaCon in Las Vegas, Nevada. According to Hollywood Reporter,

“Having already garnered an Oscar nomination, not to mention international acclaim for her big screen debut in True Grit, Hailee Steinfeld will continue to show audiences this coming year just how amazing a young actress she is with five new films set to hit theaters,” CinemaCon managing director Mitch Neuhauser stated in an official press release

Hailee has been a busy bee working on the new interpretation of “Romeo and Juliet”, “Can a song save your life?”, “Hateship, Friendship” and “Three Days to Kill.”

CinemaCon will take place April 15-18 at the Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada.
