Blue Hawk Aviation, an aviation service and consulting company, was featured in the production of the Ender’s Game film. They are very tight lipped about what they did so we won’t know what they worked on until the premiere.
Blue Hawk Aviation’s services have also been used recently on Zack Snyder’s film Man of Steel, the newest addition to the Superman series set to be released in 2013, as well as Ender’s Game.
What scenes do you guys think they worked on?
Fluxed as we are, MTV News also knows what’s gravitating in the world of Ender’s Game. Recently, they caught up with Bobby Cohen, who works with the producer Roberto Orci. Alike Alex Kurtzman, who showed his galactic enthusiasm for the cast, Cohen expressed his feelings about the actors as well.
“Our other movie is ‘Ender’s Game,’ based on the incredible book that people have been trying to make forever. A lot of directors have tried to do it. We have an amazing script. Gavin Hood is directing, we’ve got Harrison Ford, Sir Ben Kingsley, Viola Davis, Hailee Steinfeld from ‘True Grit,’ Asa Butterfield from ‘Hugo.’”
Plus, spilling some insight of the set that took place at a NASA sound stage.
“There is a NASA stage where they literally used to build the rockets for the space shuttle that is now actually a sound stage,” he said. “They will be spending 65 some odd days about 45 minutes from here on a big giant set. So that’s going well.”

This is STELLAR! It should definitely give us a bit of relief that they went for a realistic look for battle school and not a made set from scratch. And what better way to film a space school then filming at NASA headquarters.

MTV news spoke with the producer for ‘Ender’s Game’ Alex Kurtzman about an upcoming film of his “People Like Us” and got some news about the progression for “Ender’s Game”
“I’m really proud of the work everybody’s done on ‘Ender’s.’ Particularly because it’s a very complicated sprawling book that a lot of people have tried for a very long time to figure out how to make,” Kurtzman said.
“[Director] Gavin Hood, the minute that we read his script we realized that in a miraculous way he’d managed to distill down the essence of the book and the big moves to a very understandable clear format,” the writer continued. “He had made changes that were I think totally protective of the novel, he hasn’t changed any of the plot, it’s just about not being able to put all of it in one movie. He really distills it down to its essence in a beautiful way and that was an amazing thing to see. It’s an amazing thing to see the movie come to life because it’s such a special and different movie.”
He goes on to comment about the wonderful cast:
“Asa [Butterfield] is unbelievable in it. Hailee [Steinfeld] and Abigail [Breslin] are incredible. Harrison [Ford] and Viola [Davis] are just, they’re weirdly exactly what you imagined when you read the book, or at least I did,” he admitted. “It’s really going to be a special movie. We’re about halfway through it, maybe close to halfway but it’s been a wonderful shoot so far.”

Like we all know a book to film will not always be transferred word by word. So changes in the story is not surprising. The novel is a very detailed plot so ‘distilling the book’ seems necessary given the time limit. Lets just hope that we aren’t too disappointed with the end results being that the story is very different, children genius’ and space school and all the like, and having to be compared to past attempts at being made.

As many have probably heard by now, filming on the upcoming Ender’s Game movie has just started in Louisiana. According to a local news channel in New Orleans, filmin
g will be taking place at NASA’s Michoud Assembly Facility in a space that is now being occupied by Big Easy Studios. The production crew is scheduled to occupy the facility for over a year.
Katie Williams, Director of Film New Orleans, reported that over 46 big-budget productions were shot in New Orleans this past year, several at the Michoud Assembly Facility, including G.I. Joe: Retaliation.

With the discontinuation of NASA’s space shuttle program, many of the facilities previously used for spacecraft construction were left vacant. The MAF is thus being occupied and rented not only by Big Easy Studios and the Ender’s Game crew, but also by the US Coast Guard, the USDA National Finance Center and other production teams. (Source)
