Ender’s Game Cast Attend 2013 Oscars After Party

Kyhlin Rhambo updated his Facebook Page with some great photos of himself at the Oscars After Party. As well as added some to his Instagram.

In attendance with Khylin, Aramis Knight posted these pictures of himself and Khylin on his Instagram:

The guys look handsome in suits. They are definitely getting ready for their debut for the Ender’s Game premiere. The only difference will be us fans screaming and calling to them on the sidelines. Does Ender’s Game have a shot for being nominated for an Oscar? Let us know what you think in the comments.

Ender’s Game At Breaking Dawn Part II Premiere

Did you ever think the Twilight saga was in any way related to Ender’s Game?

Well in a small way it is. In the premiere for the last installment of the saga Andrea Powell, who plays Mrs. Wiggin in Ender’s Game, plays Sasha from the Denali Clan, the founder of the Denali vampires. She is walking the black carpet of the Breaking Dawn Part II premiere along with Aramis Knight, who plays Bean.

Aramis is attending to promote Ender’s Game and has promised some pictures of his experience and hopefully as they both went back and forth on twitter we can get a picture of their reunion.

UPDATE: We got some pictures of Aramis at the premiere (Thank you Ro for the tip). Also, we got this from Asa Butterfield via Twitter:

Variety’s Power of Youth 2012

Yesterday Saturday the 15th Variety held its annual Power of Youth event which “brings together the top young talent in Hollywood, encouraging young people everywhere to get involved in philanthropic and humanitarian causes.” -Variety Power Of Youth Facebook page.

In attendance, some being honored in their role of this generation, were some of the cast members from the Ender’s Game film, including the always beautiful and youthful Hailee Steinfeld (Petra Arkanian), Khylin Rhambo (Dink Meeker), Brandon Soo Hoo (Fly Molo), Jimmy Pinchak (Peter Wiggin) and Aramis Knight (Bean).

Also, the cast got to hang out with Brendan Meyer who was suppose to play the character of Stilson but due to scheduling conflicts had to drop out of the movie. So it’s nice to see the camaraderie between Ender’s Game still rooted.

Here are some pictures found around the internet (mainly twitter and instagram) and a video link to the Power of Youth 2012 site who interviews Hailee Steinfeld and her take on the youth generation. The photos are still coming in but we were promised by Jimmy Pinchak, via his facebook page, he was going to post some up when made available. So we will keep you all updated when they surface.

UPDATE: Unfortunately, Jimmy Pinchak wasn’t able to attend the event because of timing. Photos from his experience, as we promised to update you on, aren’t available.

Power of Youth 2012: Hailee Steinfeld

Ender’s Game Cast Attend The Dark Knight Rises Premiere

This past monday was the premiere of The Dark Night Rises which was held at AMC Lincoln Square in New York City.

In attendance of the red carpet (in this case black carpet) were our very own Hailee Steinfeld (Petra) and Aramis Knight (Bean). Hailee walked the carpet in a colorful Marc Jacobs Resort 2013 dress with black platforms alongside her dashing brother Griffin Steinfeld.

For those who didn’t hear about this before Aramis Knight actually filmed some scenes for the movie alongside some of the big names.

Update: According to IMDB, and those who have seen the movie already, Aramis plays a boy with an apple being pursued. As shown on his official site, a still from his scene in the movie is included in the slides below.

Although, there being little info upon who Aramis played according to his official website he did film scenes for the movie. He tweeted that he was in New York. Most likely for the premiere. Unfortunately, there aren’t any pictures up, yet, of him on the black carpet so I’ll keep a look out for those. On the other hand here are some pics of Hailee Steinfeld and her brother Griffin at the premiere courtesy of JustJaredJr and Gettyimages.

Photoshoot for the Ender’s Game film

So with production wrapped up, the cast are either back in LA or at work on another movie. Most likely their is editing for the movie going on at the moment but we have heads up that there is also a photoshoot with the cast. Jimmy Jax Pinchak (Peter Wiggin) tweeted this yesterday:

Also, Aramis Knight tweeted about an Ender’s Game reunion:

If they are doing a photoshoot for the cast then hopefully soon we can be delighted with character posters or an official movie poster for the film. How exciting would it be to finally see the whole crew in character?

Ender’s Game Production Wraps

Well, it looks like almost all, if not all, actors have finished filming their parts for the movie.  There may be a couple still out there that possibly need to do a scene or something (this is all speculation on my part, according to what I’ve been reading on tweets), but everyone is pretty much done.

What’s cool about watching these novels, especially ones with a young cast, get done is that the actors really seem to appreciate the time spent with each other.  Twitter has given them a way to express it so to their fellow co-stars, whilst letting everyone else who may be interested know about it as well.  Case in point:

So, now that production is done, you may wonder why we still have to wait more than a year for the movie to come out.  Well, it was originally planned to come out in March of 2013, but the studio moved it up to November 2013 for their own marketing and financially appealing motives.  However, despite that, yes, it still takes a while to get everything in place during post-production, especially when it comes to a sci-fi movie that will seemingly rely on CGI effects for a portion of the movie.  That being said, they now have plenty of time to get everything in place and in order.  And seeing as these kids are so happy to have been involved with the whole process, I really am excited for us to enjoy the movie as much as they enjoyed filming it.

More Ender’s Game Questions Answered!

Today on the Ender’s Game production blog, more questions were answered regarding the film. And a new image was released, as well!

Ccspatriot35 asks:

How militaristic will the environment be?  Will we be seeing the children treated like the soldiers they are meant to portray?  For all intents and purposes they are in boot camp for most of their adolescence.  Will we see the characters being broken down?

Funny you should ask.  We had a great visit with some online press who visited the set, and they got to talk to our actors.  Without giving too much away, they told great stories of not only going to Space Camp, but also having to undergo a form of boot camp with a no nonsense instructor who taught them how to march properly in unison and much more.  And when they screwed up they were ordered to do push ups!  They got in shape trust me.  It’s painful for my self image to see so many young kids with six pack abs.  Maybe I should go to boot camp next.

DavidB asks:

How is the film team approaching the great deal of wonderful internal monologue?  Voice-overs rarely translate well to the visual medium of film, so just wondering what types of mechanisms will be considered to convey the “important stuff” inside Ender’s head?

We have a muppet of the Colonel who narrates the whole thing from the future.  Oh, no wait, different movie.  I joke because that is a great question and I think Gavin would tell you that it was the biggest challenge he faced in composing his script.  It was also the most challenging aspect of the casting process.  So here we have two things that really make it happen.  First, we got such an unbelievable group of actors who can convey so much with their faces and body language… frankly, with their performances, which is something a book is denied using to convey inner emotion or thought.

And secondly, of course, Gavin elegantly translated some of the inner thought into action or character decisions in his script — drama — and that allowed him to find natural places for the characters to speak about what they are going through.

Joey Oliver asks:

How much of Bean’s story will we be hearing about?

Bean who?  Oh, Bean!  You should know how much Orson Scott Card advocated for as much Bean as we could muster, and really encouraged ways to make him pivotal.  You’ll decide if we succeeded!  I think we did. And we’re even more excited for you all to experience Aramis Knight’s fantastic portrayal of Bean.

Katrina asks:

How has the book been adapted to script to work with the ages of the actors?

Time has been compressed impressionistically.  Though we don’t specify how much time has passed, leaving it somewhat up to your imagination, it is clear that the time span is not as long as the book’s.

Sarah Pezzat asks:

Is it still about using empathy as a weapon?

One of the great themes that is explored, in more ways than one, is how empathy can be seen as a weakness or a strength. How understanding an enemy makes you also understand their weaknesses.  And even how withholding empathy can also be a weapon.  The fact that the audience is going to want nothing more than for commanders to show these young people warmth and understanding, but that it has to be weighed against the fear of it being not in the young soldiers best interests in order for them to do what they have to do, makes for fascinating stuff.

What are your thoughts? Are you excited? The fact that the production team is keeping the fans in the loop is such a wonderful thing. We’re so grateful.

Ender’s Game Cast Attend Lakers Vs. Hornets Game!

This has to be my favorite post so far. I am a die hard Laker fan so to see the cast enjoying themselves at a game makes me feel much more closer to them. Today Aramis Knight (Bean), Moises Arias (Bonzo), Asa Butterfield (Ender) and Hailee Steinfield (Petra) attended the Lakers vs. Hornets game in New Orleans.

Fortunately, the Lakers won 93-91, Kobe Bryant (the all-star of the team for those of you who don’t know) didn’t play. So, though they didn’t get to see him play, it was a great game to attend.

Another pic just to see what their view of the game was. Extremely lucky.

Two Photos From Ender’s Game Production Blog

Things are starting to move in the Ender’s Game movie world as the production blog has posted two more photos from their Tumblr account.

Here’s just a hint of how Battle School will look like.

If you think regular school is tough, try it in a rotating space station.  And by the way, do you have a hall pass for hall number 0058?  Because if you don’t, you could end up scrubbing the showers.  When you first arrive at Battle School, all you perceive is its utility, its functionality… that is until you enter the BATTLE ROOM, where there is no up, no down, and ZERO G’s.  Movie making can become overly reliant on digital worlds, and nothing can replace a well-built set that you can see and touch and stand in the middle of, fooling you into thinking you are really there. Enjoy this small taste of Ender’s big world. We’ll see a lot more in the weeks to come.
The next photo shows them in a simulator at Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama.

“Houston, we have a problem.  We don’t know how to land the Shuttle.” Good thing it’s just a simulator safely on the ground at SPACE CAMP in Huntsville, Alabama.  Aramis, Moises, Asa & Suraj (pictured above from a monitor in the MISSION CONTROL ROOM ) and the rest of our cast agreed that to do Ender’s Game right, they had to train as though they were really headed into ZERO G.  And this wasn’t just an afternoon spent taking a vanity tour. From the Manned Maneuvering Unit (MMU), which simulates extra-vehicular shuttle missions in Earth’s orbit, to the microgravity training chair that prepared astronauts for moonwalks during the Apollo program, the week at Space Camp was genuine prep for the feeling of reality that this movie deserves. And after all, the army that trains together stays together.

I gotta say, I’m extremely envious that these child actors got to go to Space Camp and do simulation missions and training!
